Mr. Morris W. Goff of Greensburg, Kentucky, son of the late John W. and Ruth Bale Goff, was born on July 25, 1928 in Green County, Kentucky and departed this life on Saturday, July 9, 2022. He was 93 years, 11 months and 15 days of age.
He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Greensburg Baptist Church.
Mr. Goff owned and operated Greensburg Auto Parts for over fifty years. He served two terms as Green County Judge-Executive. He was also a member of the Greensburg Rotary Club, the Green County Republicans and a former member of the hospital board. He coached the local American Legion baseball team all the way to the runner-up position in the World Series. Morris enjoyed the time spent with his family. He never met a stranger and travelled the county talking and visiting with friends.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jean Smith Goff on August 4, 2020, having united in marriage on April 25, 1948.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law: Darrell and Marcy Goff of Greensburg; a daughter and son-in-law: Van and Ken Phelps of Campbellsville; six grandchildren and their spouses: Darren and Diana Goff, Russ and Mandy Goff, Chad and Janet Phelps all of Greensburg, Jill and Ken Pierce of Indiana, Josh and Allison Phelps of Harrodsburg, and Brooke and Jeff Montgomery of Mt. Washington; 14 great-grandchildren: Drew Goff, Matt and Sydney Goff, Claire Goff, Caroline Goff, Greer Goff, Karson Pierce, Kollins Pierce, Reed Phelps, Reagan Phelps, Preston Phelps, Lev Phelps, Nate Montgomery, Seth Montgomery, Luke Montgomery; one step great-great grandson: Anderson Lambert; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by two brothers: Earl Goff and Carl Goff.
The funeral services for Morris Goff will be conducted at 10:00 A.M., Central Time, Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at the Gupton-Landrum Funeral Home, with burial to follow in the Aetna Grove Cemetery. Bro. Blake Jessie, Bro. Todd Young and Representative Brandon Reed officiating.
Visitation is requested from 4 P.M. until 8 P.M. Monday at the funeral home, and after 7 A.M. Tuesday until the time of the service.
The family has asked that expressions of sympathy be in the form of donations to Greensburg Baptist Church, Hosparus of Green River or Gideon Bibles, which can be made at the funeral home.
