Barbara Lile

September 1, 1932 — April 8, 2024

Mrs. Barbara Sue Reece Lile of Greensburg, Kentucky, daughter of the late Sellie Olen Reece and Virginia Merle Froedge Reece, was born on September 1, 1932 in the Breeding Community of Adair County, Kentucky. She departed this life on Monday, April 8, 2024 at the Campbellsville Nursing and Rehab having attained the age of 91 years, seven months and seven days.

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Greasy Creek Baptist Church, where she enjoyed her Sunday school class and was a Sunday school teacher. Mrs. Lile was a former employee of Fruit of the Loom for 27 years. She was a member of the Greensburg-Green County Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She worked diligently to organize fundraisers for not only the firefighters and fire department, but for our community and other worthy causes. One that was very special to her and her husband, was the WHAS Crusade for Children. As an excellent cook, she was well known for her famous pickles, cakes and other treats. She was a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, to not just her own family, but to many. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, former Greensburg Fire Chief Bill Lile, on April 11, 2023, having united in marriage on October 11, 1952.

Survivors include one son: Terry Lile and fiancé Pam Druin of Campbellsville; one daughter and son-in-law: Mandy and Mike Cox of Greensburg; a son-in-law: Ken Childers of Edmonton; five grandchildren: Melody and Brian Baker of Center, Samantha and Luke Buckman of Lexington, Reece and Katelyn Cox of Greensburg, Briley Cox of Greensburg and fiancé Mayci Hafley of Campbellsville, and Michelle and Barry Dobson of Campbellsville; three great-grandchildren: Aidan Grindle, Isaac Grindle and Brett Dobson; a bonus daughter: Kim Johnson of Greensburg; bonus grandchildren: Trey Walsh and Hayden Walsh; plus a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by a daughter: Judy Childers on February 6, 2022; a daughter-in-law: Pat Lile; one brother: Preston Reece; and one sister: Faye Bean. 

The funeral services for Mrs. Barbara Lile will be conducted at 1 P.M., Central Time, on Thursday, April 11, 2024 at the Gupton-Landrum Funeral Home in Greensburg with burial to follow in the Greasy Creek Cemetery. Bro. Wilburn Bonta officiating.

Visitation is requested from 4 P.M. until 8 P.M., Central Time, on Wednesday and after 7 A.M. Thursday until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy are requested to be made in the form of donations to the WHAS Crusade for Children or the Greasy Creek Cemetery Fund, which can be made at the funeral home.
