The Reverend Leo Paul Curry, Sr. of Greensburg, Kentucky, son of the late Roy Alton Curry and Lovie Christine Clark Curry was born on December 16, 1933 on the family farm in Green County, Kentucky. He departed this life on Thursday, June 6, 2024 at the Jane Todd Crawford Hospital in Greensburg, Kentucky having attained the age of 90 years, 5 months and 21 days.
He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member and deacon of Greasy Creek Baptist Church.
He served his country honorably in the United States Army.
Bro. Leo was ordained a minister in 1970 and served his first congregation at Leatherwood. In his many devoted years of ministry, he also served as pastor at Sparksville, Russell Heights, Mt. Carmel, Aetna Union and Brush Creek. He was among a group of men to establish The Tabernacle and then he donated ground for Union Chapel Church, both were in the Newt community. Bro. Leo and his wife, Wanda, were also members of the Curry Quartet.
He was a member of the Greensburg Lodge #54 F&AM and was a Kosair Shriner.
Along with his years of ministry, he was a salesman for Moor Man’s Feed and was a life long farmer. Bro. Leo enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding his Kubota to check on his cattle, visiting his neighbors and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of over 69 years, Wanda Bloyd Curry, having united in marriage on December 25, 1954.
Besides his wife, Wanda Curry of Greensburg, other survivors include: three daughters and two sons-in-law: Deborah and Sammy Froggett, Vanessa and Jimmy Shreve, and Paula Curry all of Greensburg; one son and daughter-in-law: Leo, Jr. and Jamie Curry of Greensburg; four grandchildren: Erica and Lauren Meredith, Josh and Sarah Moon, Leo Curry III and Zane Curry; two great-grandchildren: Micah Meredith and Makayla Moon; two sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law: Rachel Curry and Gleason and Barbara Bloyd all of Green County; plus a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by three brothers: Arlie Curry, Stanley Curry and Larry Curry; two sisters: Louvenia Moon and Beatrice Squires; and Kevin Davis, who he considered his son-in-law and called "Ab."
The funeral services for Bro. Leo Curry will be conducted at 2 P.M., Central Time, on Sunday, June 9, 2024 at Gupton-Landrum Funeral Home in Greensburg with burial to follow in the E.B. Brook Pierce Cemetery. Bro. Larry Wisdom and Bro. Caleb Owens officiating.
Visitation is requested from 4 P.M. until 8 P.M., Central Time, on Saturday and after 7 A.M. Sunday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
A Masonic Service will be held at 7 P.M., Central Time, on Saturday at the funeral home. All Master Masons are requested to be at the Greensburg Lodge by 6 P.M., Central Time.
Expressions of sympathy are requested to be made in the form of donations to Greasy Creek Church or Gideon Bibles, which can be made at the funeral home.
