Mr. Carl Jay Coffey of Greensburg, Kentucky, son of the late Carlos Jay and Lorene Jaggers Coffey, was born on September 6, 1960 in Glasgow, Kentucky. He departed this life on Saturday, June 20, 2026 at his home having attained the age of 65 years, nine months and 14 days.
He was saved while attending services at the Church of God. Carl Jay was a former employee of Ron and Brenda's Transportation and enjoyed fishing, hunting, being outdoors, tending his flower beds and most importantly, the time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of over 46 years, Loretta Coffey, having united in marriage on January 4, 1980.
In addition to his wife, Loretta Coffey of Greensburg, other survivors include one daughter: Carla McClister of Greensburg; one son and daughter-in-law: Kyle and Jessica Coffey of Greensburg; grandchildren: Tiana Durrett (Michael Artist), Jaylen McClister (Kiele Cochran), Lily Koster, Josh Koster and Alona Koster all of Greensburg; great-grandchildren: Lily Morgan, Laelah Morgan, Kenzley McIntosh, Kreed Artist and Desirae Artist all of Greensburg; two sisters and brothers-in-law: Linda and Tim Gibson of Cave City, and Joan and Donnie York of Greensburg; one brother and sister-in-law: Darrell and Lura Coffey of Hiseville; plus a host of other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by Leo and Elizabeth Coffey, who held a special place in his heart as a second set of parents.
The funeral service for Carl Jay Coffey will be conducted at 11 AM, Central Time, on Tuesday, June 23, 2026 at the Gupton-Landrum Funeral Home in Greensburg with burial to follow in the White Hill Cemetery in Cumberland County. Bro. Greg Whitlow officiating.
Visitation is requested on Monday evening from 5 PM until 8 PM, Central Time, and after 7 AM Tuesday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Expressions of sympathy are requested to be made in the form of donations towards funeral expenses, which can be made at the funeral home.
