Carolyn Sue Lasley, daughter of the late Lawrence Reginald Lasley, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2026, at Green River Trails in Greensburg, Kentucky, at the age of 78.
Carolyn made a profession of faith in Jesus Christ at a young age, having been led to the Lord by her beloved father. Her faith remained a source of strength, comfort, and peace throughout her life. She often spoke of her father, who was the most influential person in her life, and cherished the memories they shared. Carolyn would proudly tell others that she was not afraid of dying because she knew she would be going home to her Heavenly Father and would one day be reunited with her daddy. She was forever grateful to her father for giving her the greatest gift of all—a relationship with God.
On October 23, 2023, Carolyn became a resident of Green River Trails, where she found much more than a place to call home. She found a family. Family is not always defined by blood, but by the people who show up, who stay, and who love us. The staff at Green River Trails became Carolyn's family, surrounding her with unwavering love, compassion, and companionship. They brought happiness and joy into her life, but perhaps the greatest gift was the immeasurable love and joy she gave them in return. Carolyn had a special way of touching the hearts of those around her, and the bonds she formed were genuine, meaningful, and deeply cherished.
Carolyn was a remarkable woman—strong-willed, fiercely independent, and never afraid to speak her mind. Yet beneath that spirited personality was one of the kindest and most compassionate hearts anyone could ever know. She loved fiercely, gave generously, and always looked for ways to brighten someone else's day. Carolyn rarely had an unkind word to say about anyone, choosing instead to show understanding and compassion, especially toward those who were struggling. She had an extraordinary ability to see the good in others and made those around her feel valued and loved.
Carolyn was also incredibly creative and talented. She enjoyed putting together puzzles and spent countless hours creating beautiful, colorful crafts adorned with her beloved jewels, often making them as gifts for others. She was an avid reader who especially enjoyed mysteries, and she treasured her father's Bible, which she kept in her room and read often.
Carolyn had a special love for animals, particularly tigers. One of her treasured experiences was a trip to the zoo last year, where she had the opportunity to see her favorite animals up close. She also enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, including a delicious meal, especially chicken and dumplings, and, of course, her beloved Mountain Dew and snacks.
To know Carolyn was to love her. She was a bright and beautiful light in the lives of those fortunate enough to know her. Her laughter, her smile, her independent spirit, and the kindness she so freely shared will never be forgotten. Though her absence leaves an emptiness in the hearts of her Green River Trails family, the love she gave and the memories she created will remain with them always.
Carolyn leaves behind her beloved Green River Trails family, including two especially dear friends, Heather Smith and Chasity Pruitt, who held a special place in her heart.
In accordance with Carolyn's wishes, cremation will take place, and no formal funeral services will be held. A celebration of her life will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers or donations, those wishing to honor Carolyn's memory are encouraged to carry forward the very things that made her so special: Be kind to one another, show compassion to those in need, love without hesitation, and above all, stay close to God.
Family is not always the people we are born to, but the people who choose to love us. Carolyn was deeply loved, and she will forever be family.
Arrangements are entrusted to Gupton-Landrum Funeral Home in Greensburg.
