Jimmie Edwards

Mr. Jimmie Carl Edwards of Metcalfe County, Kentucky, son of the late Carlie and Evelyn Matney Edwards, was born on April 15, 1939 in the Keltner Community of Adair County, Kentucky. He departed this life on Friday, August 29, 2025 at the Metcalfe Health Care Center in Edmonton, Kentucky having attained the age of 86 years, four months and 14 days.

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was of the Methodist faith. Mr. Edwards retired from Armor Packing Company in Louisville and worked trimming trees.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes Maedel Edwards, on August 29, 1998.

Survivors include one daughter: Sheila Reed of Louisville; one son: Joe Edwards of Leitchfield; two step-daughters: Mary and David Young of Edmonton, and Tonie and Tommy Young of Sulphur Wells; five grandchildren; 6 step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and nine step great-grandchildren; plus a host of other relatives and friends.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two children: Brenda Bobbitt and Pete Edwards; and ten siblings: Dorothy Curry, Granvil Edwards, Weldon Edwards, Yvonne Stolze, Gracie Bishop, Arlis Edwards, Cybil Bush, Robert Edwards, Jake Edwards and Larry Edwards.

The funeral service for Mr. Jimmie Edwards will be conducted at 1 PM, Central Time, on Tuesday, September 2nd, 2025 at the Gupton-Landrum Funeral Home in Greensburg with burial to follow in the Edwards Cemetery.

Visitation is requested on Tuesday after 11 AM, Central Time, until the time of service.
